The Culture Yard (Kulturværftet)

The Culture Yard is an updated version of Elsinore’s old shipyard. In 2010, it reopened as a modern cultural centre offering a lot of history, numerous experiences and a nice café.

The past and the present are combined in the architecture at the Culture Yard which is designed by the architect group AART architects.  From the outside, the sail inspired façade made of glass, steel and building envelope offers a modern sculptural impression. Inside, the old yard buildings are preserved as a historical core. Here, the raw concrete walls, exposed rafters, great window sections, balconies facing the harbour, a roof terrace with a view to Kronborg Castle and corners with a magnificent view.

The Culture Yard opened on 10.10.10, at 10.10 o’clock. The number of visitors has been increasing ever since. In 2018, there were more than 900,000 guests. Each year, more than 1,700 events are being held at the yard of which about half are cultural.
